The Happiness Heals Project

Hello everyone!

I know I’ve been a little absent recently, and I’m terribly sorry about that. However, it’s for a good reason!
I’m most excited to officially announce the Happiness Heals Project!
Happiness Heals is the final capstone for my Consciousness and Transformation minor, integrating photography with neuroscience research to discover what brings ordinary people constant joy at the end of the day. My hope is to photograph and interview at least 30 people doing whatever gives them peace, hope, or happiness. The photographs, along with research focusing on how positive practices can alter the neuroplasticity of the brain, will be posted to the blog: http://happinesshealsproject.tumblr.com/

This is something that is quite near and dear to my heart, and I’m very excited to share it with you. I’ll be reblogging some of the photographs onto my personal blog, and I hope all of you beautiful souls will find the stories as inspiring as I do!

Have a marvelous day!
With all my love,
J xx

Many women are trapped in their sterling silver way of life, and never know that this is the cause of their suffering.

Robert A. Johnson

Cultivate the habit of being grateful for every good thing that comes to you, and to give thanks continuously. And because all things have contributed to your advancement, you should include all things in your gratitude.

Ralph Waldo Emerson (via tranceend)

If there is unhappiness in you, first you need to acknowledge that it is there. But don’t say “I’m unhappy.” Unhappiness has nothing to do with who you are. Say: “There is unhappiness in me.” Then investigate it. A situation you find yourself in may have something to do with it. Action may be required to change the situation or remove yourself from it. If there is nothing you can do, face what is and say, “Well, right now, this is how it is. I can either accept it, or make myself miserable.” The primary cause of unhappiness is never the situation but your thoughts about it.

Happy Lovin’ Day, darlings!

Good morning, sweet souls! Happy day of love!

I know this day can be disheartening to some, but from the bottom of my heart I wish you all the love in the world. I wish the sun to kiss your face, the wind to caress your back, and the earth to support you in your dreams. You are all very beautiful, and here for a very real purpose- to love and be loved in return!

I’m going to be doing a metta (loving-kindness) meditation at 9:30 PM EST tonight. I hope you’ll join me to spread love across our world!

Namasté,
J xx

If you meditate regularly, even when you don’t feel like it, you will make great gains, for it will allow you to see how your thoughts impose limits on you. Your resistances to meditation are your mental prisons in miniature.

… If we were not so single-minded
about keeping out lives moving,
and for once could do nothing,
perhaps a huge silence
might interrupt this sadness
of never understanding ourselves
… Perhaps the earth can teach us
as when everything seems dead
and later proves to be alive.
